Cairns to become United boss

Former Glebe Rangers manager Peter Cairns is set to become the new manager of Ballymoney United.

The club has confirmed in a statement issued on their Facebook page that Cairns, who left the Glebe in October, that would be taking over the United reins in January.

The statement said: “As of January 1st 2015 ex-Glebe Rangers manager Peter Cairns will be in charge of Ballymoney United as he takes over the reins of our current temporary management staff. We would like to wish Peter all the best at the club.”

Cairns will be Ballymoney’s third manager this term. Chris Peacock was the man at the helm at the start of the season, but he left the club in October a few days ironically after Cairns had left the Glebe.

Russell Stirling and James Gilchrist are currently in charge at the Riada Stadium, but they will be stepping aside come the new year.
