The sides’ previous meeting at the Warden Street Showgrounds - also a night-time fixture - was marred by clashes between rival groups after the game , while other isolated incidents of disorder at matches this season have brought United to the attention of the authorities.

Mr Taggart said: “The vast majority of supporters of both teams are only interested in seeing their side win and enjoying the match. Unfortunately however there is also a small element on both sides who are intent on causing trouble including fighting.

“Nobody at Ballymena United wishes to see injury caused to any individual and would ask supporters to act responsibly at all times.

“Anyone who acts in an unacceptable manner will be banned from attending future Ballymena United games at the Showgrounds for a substantial period of time,” the chairman added.

Ballymena supporters will only be able to gain access to the ground from the Ecos side of the stadium and those travelling by car should enter via the Ecos roundabout on the Broughshane Road.

Ballymena fans walking to the stadium should make their way along Suffolk Street and enter via Gate E and follow the directions of stewards.

The Slemish Drive car park and turnstile will not be available for use by Ballymena fans and home supporters will be asked to remain in the ground for approximately 15 minutes at the final whistle.

Meanwhile, on the pitch, United manager Glenn Ferguson will be able to call upon Jim Ervin, Gavin Taggart and Tony Kane, who have completed suspensions, but defender Johnny Taylor remains banned for a further game.

He is joined in the sin-bin by midfielder Nathan Hanley who misses the match after accumulating five yellow cards.

Coleraine have won all three of the sides’ previous meetings this season.
