Carniny U-10s kick-off Foyle Cup adventure today

CARNINY Youth Under 10s embark on one of their biggest challenges yet this week when they enter the Foyle Cup.

The squad has been built up with a great group of kids, based not only in Ballymena but also from as far as Portrush.

Most of the players have been at Carniny Youth since they were 5 years old, whilst the team’s success to date has helped attract more members to the squad, not only local players but those from further afield, which looks good for Manager Jason Hunter who will take the squad into the Lisburn Youth League next season for their first season in 11-a-side football.

The team is very optimistic of their chances in the Foyle Cup competition after last Saturday’s friendly match against Bertie Peacocks when they had a comfortable win against the young Coleraine side.

Carniny play their first group match against Finn Harps this afternoon (Tuesday, Leafir playing fields, 4pm) with Trojans and Limavady their opponents on the Wednesday.

The Carniny squad for the Foyle Cup is: Goalkeeper - Daniel McNicholl; Defenders - Craig Farquhar, Kyle Robinson, Dylan Young, Craig Simpson; Midfielders- Scott Hunter, Lee Lynn, Jaydym Scullion, Jake White; Forwards - Lewis Mearns and Jude Currie.
