Carniny U-12s continue encouraging start

At Under 10 level within the club this year there are no ‘first’ or ‘second’ teams, with development the key, with the Under 10 Amateurs comfortable winners in their ‘mini’ derby with Ballymena Town up in Coleraine and the U10 youths losing out to Roe valley in a high scoring match also.

The Under 11 Youths down in Lisburn faced new opposition when they faced an all girls team for the first time and obviously weren’t distracted running out 5-0 winners on the day. Their counterparts the U11 Amateurs were on the wrong end of a seven goal thriller, despite a hat trick from Jack Millar.

The U14s and 17s lost out in their NIBFA Subway National League matches despite a much improved performance from the 17s.

FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

The Carniny Amateur and Youth FC Football Development Centre started its latest 8 week session at the Ballymena Showgrounds on Saturday in great weather for the children. There was great interest in the Centre with local children.

It’s still not too late to enrol though and anyone with children born in the years 2010 to 2006 are welcome to make contact with the club through co ordinator Davy Boyd on 07803974402.

UNDER-10

Carniny Amateurs 8, Ballymena Town 3: Carniny took the game to Ballymena from the kick off and good pressure from McKee & Greer saw the ball fall to McKee to score the first goal.

A neat pass from Graham saw Greer score to make it 2-0. From a Carniny free kick, Magee’s cross was part cleared for McKee to score. Ballymena struggled to get out of their own half and a McKee block led to an o.g. Good attacking wingback play from Francey saw him feed Graham who shot and scored for 5-0.

Carniny switched off from a corner and Ballymena scored from the set piece. Carniny regrouped and good vision from Magee saw him pass long to Greer who slotted the ball home. More pressure from Greer saw him rob the opposing player and pass to McKee who shot home through the keeper’s legs.

As per the rules Ballymena were allowed to introduce an extra player and the second half started more cautiously. A loose pass from defence allowed Ballymena to rob Magee in midfield and his square pass gave the striker an easy chance to score.

Carniny stirred into action and from a throw out to Francey, his pass to Graham allowed him to power his way through to score for 8-2.

Right at the end good skill from the Ballymena winger saw him cut in and finish well to score a consolation for 8-3.

Carniny Youth 3, Roe Valley 8: Carniny started much the brighter against a well organised roe valley side and went one up after great work from Jack Kennedy who on a mazy run beat three defenders but his shot was saved by the keeper and the tireless Cameron Moody scored from the rebound.

The pressure paid off when again, Kennedy was instrumental by going on yet another skilful dribble and this time rolled the ball across goal for Moody to slot home his second.

Unfortunately Carniny then sat back and allowed Roe Valley to equalise through two sloppy goals. This encouraged Valley to push on and score 2 more and went in at half time 4-2 up. The second half saw Valley use the wind to their advantage and scored a further 4 goals from long range. Carniny then finished the game very strongly and Kennedy capped off an excellent performance by grabbing a well deserved and well executed goal to see the game finish 8-3

Lisburn Youth league result: Carniny Youth 5, Lisburn Ladies 0.

Carniny Amateurs 3, Ballymoney United YA 4: Ballymoney opened the scoring after 12 minutes before doubling their lead when they scored on the break.

Carniny battled on and David Hanna linked well with Murray who scored to make the score 2-1 half time.

The second half saw Ballymoney score their third goal quickly but Carniny pulled one back when Murray scored his second but once again Ballymoney scored on the break to make score 4-2.

With five minutes left Porter shot wide and Jordan hit the post then once again that man Murray popped up to score his hat trick final score 4-3 Ballymoney.

UNDER-12

Carniny Youth 6, Dungoyne 1: Carniny 2003’s continued their impressive early season form on Friday night with a win over Belfast side Dungoyne.

Dungoyne struck first when a mix up in the Carniny defence allowed the striker to nip in and finish from close range.

Carniny responded almost immediately when Gregg finished low from close range. Carniny then dominated possession, created chances and eventually found the reward through Adger who finished neatly.

Reid deservedly extended Carniny’s lead in the second half when he turned and struck an unstoppable effort from distance into the top corner.

Dungoyne then had the misfortune of scoring two own goals in quick succession from two wicked inswinging corners.

Carniny completed the scoring when clever call and leave allowed Gregg to run onto the ball and blast it high into the net to finish a superb performance from Carniny.

UNDER-14

Carniny Youth 1, Glenavon 5: Carniny were up against a tough Glenavon side who took the lead when the ball was lost in midfield and the striker hit the ball past Parker giving him no chance.

Carniny had to regroup and work to get back into the game and they equalised with Hemphill tucking away his first of the season with a tidy finish.

Glenavon upped the gears in the 2nd half and regained the lead before scoring twice in quick succession to kill off the game. Right at the end Glenavon added another to seal the win.

UNDER-17

Carniny Youth 0, Warrenpoint Town 2: Despite a much improved performance from last week, Carniny fell behind when Warrenpoint fired a shot high into the net.

In the last minute of the game with Carniny pushing forward looking for an equaliser they were caught on the break and conceded a penalty from which Warrenpoint scored to leave the final score 0-2.

UNDER-19

Newington 8, Carniny 1: Carniny started better than could have been expected and after 5 minutes took the lead when McKernan put Beggs through to round the advancing keeper and score into an empty net.

At that stage, no-one could have predicted what lay ahead as Newington produced some clinical finishing to lead 5-1 at the break.

The second half saw Carniny make several changes which stemmed the flow slightly but the home side still scored another three to give Carniny what should be a wake up call.
