Carniny Youth FC round-up: Title joy for under-12s

CARNINY Youth Under 12s finished their league season winning their ‘ELITE’ National League division courtesy of a James McDonnell hat trick which guarantees the Ballymena ‘reds’ finish top of the pile.

The 13s also brought their National League season to a close with a 3-1 win over Warrenpoint in a game which Keenan and Doherty were outstanding.

The 11s completed the hat trick of wins for the clubs 11-a-side teams in action at the weekend with a 3-1 win over Shankill Youth up in Belfast which keeps the side in contention for league honours.

The only sad note of the day was the under 10s who unusually lost a game to Ballymoney Youth Academy up in the North West 4-2 in a cup quarter-final which followed their recent Dutch adventure.

IPSWICH TRIP

The next Carniny side to be off on their travels are the clubs talented under 14 side who fly off on Friday to London before travelling to Ipswich as guests of the ‘tractor boys’ where they will be receiving training at the clubs academy as well as playing a game and getting to visit the first team’s game against Millwall.

The trip is a reward for the side’s hard fought season in the National League and competition in the Northern Ireland Boys FA Cup.

Former Carniny player Josh Carson now plays for ‘Town’ in the Championship.

Several others of the Carniny club’s sides will be off on their travels either at the end of this season or at the start of next season following links built up in previous years with several cross channel clubs.
