Carniny Youth FC weekly round-up

A KIERAN O’Boyle brace helped inspire his under 11 side to a 6-0 win over Abbey Villa as did two from Matthew Shevlin as his under 14 side got over last week’s NIBFA Cup defeat to defeat Cookstown 4-2 in the National League.

The young under 10s had a mixed day with the Youth beating Limavady 3-2 whilst the Amateurs lost their first game of the season 4-1 to Coleraine Olympic.

The under 13s though having held league leaders Armagh City 1-1 with 15 minutes to go failed to hold on in this National League tie and eventually lost 4-1.

Finally the 15s continue to battle in Northern Irelands ‘elite’ National League but went down 4-1 to St Oliver Plunkett.

FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

Carniny’s football development centre continues to prosper and is fully subscribed with over 80 children registered at present.

The Centre has such a waiting list that they are having to consider other ways of providing football for the children of Ballymena and already plans are underway for a project in the Spring.

Last Saturday was the second session of the current programme prior to the commencement of the Mini Soccer League of which Carniny are founder members.

For the latest reports, club news and photographic coverage, see this week’s Ballymena Times.
