Carniny Youth secure club partnership with Sunderland

Carniny Amateur and Youth FC were delighted to recently secure a club partnership with English Premiership side, Sunderland AFC.

The announcement provides a huge boost for the local Ballymena club who are committed to providing the best opportunities for their players.

After a recent club trip, when the club’s Under 17 squad spent a weekend at the North East club, both clubs negotiated an agreement which will see a close alliance between the two clubs.

The first step will see the Premiership’s SAFC Foundation of Light Development Coaches travel to Ballymena to providing a Football Development Coaching Programme. SAFC Foundation of Light Coaches work with SAFC Academy and SAFC Player Development Squads.

The Coaches will deliver a two day program which will include; Technical ability and skills, Player development, Agility, strength, balance, speed and stamina, Fair play and teamwork, Tactical awareness and Position specific skills i.e. striker, defender etc. Players will also have the opportunity at all age groups to be invited across to Sunderland for open trial days held by the club.

The three day Coaching program will take place in Ballymena over three days, 24th and 26th August 2015 and will not only be open to Carniny Youth players but will also have limited places available for other local players.

Carniny Youth team will start preparations for the NIBFA National League with all their applications from U12 to U17 accepted and confirmed by the Boys Football association.

The club’s Under 17s (1999s) will be joined by Ballymena Utd in Division One this coming season. Anyone interested in being part of the set up should contact Davy McComb 07803596967 or Ian Morton 07721596775.

The Under 16s (2000s) will play in the premier Division have cemented their place in the top tier once again. Contact - Davy Leetch, 07732808858.

The Under 14s (2002s) will, like the U16s, play in the Premier Division and will also enjoy ‘mini derby’ matches against BUFC YA who were newly promoted. Contact - Jason Hunter 07885899290.

The Under 12s (2004s) have also secured a berth in the NIBFA League, however they will be running two teams next season. Contact - Davy Hanna 07791297755.
