Carniny Youth sides continue to prepare for new season

ALL seven Carniny Youth sides have been back in training for almost a month in preparation for the new season which will be their most testing ever with five of the clubs sides competing in Northern Irelands elite National League which includes not only the top boys' clubs in the country but most of the Irish League teams youth set ups as well.

Andy Gaynor is in the process of shaping the club's under 10 side for their first year in competitive full sided football and have already played a few friendly games and are looking forward to what is ahead as are the under 11s.

The 12s, under the charge of Anthony McCartney and Joe Keenan, have strengthened over the summer and have been training hard for their first season in the National League. The 13s have also been working well with several testing pre season games including a fixture this Saturday on the 3G pitch at Seaview against fellow NL side Greenisland.

Paul Reid and Warren Scroggie have really reshaped their under 14 side into a formidable outfit capable of mounting a serious challenge this year and have been working away in pre season with several friendly games lined up whilst the 15s have also been going well comfortable friendly wins over Magherafelt Sky Blues and Bangor Rangers with Greenisland the opposition this week.

The under 16s will be looking forward to their second season in the National League this year with new faces on both the coaching and playing staff. They have already taken in two pre season wins with eight nil victories over both Crewe Utd and Antrim Rovers. The Coaching staff will include Tom Todd, Stephen Armstrong and Jack Carson.

Carniny Amateur and Youth FC’s pre season preparations continued off the field last week when the local club held their Annual General Meeting last Friday night at Michelin Athletic Club.

Comment was also made on the success of the club’s thriving Football Development Centre which caters for 4 – 9 year olds.
