Challenge Fund hits £15k mark

COLERAINE FC’s Challenge Fund has this week reached a significant milestone.

On the back of further donations, including additions via the recent CFC Quiz and continuing bucket collections, the fund has now reached the £15,000 mark. The #CFCchallenge Quiz was held at the Showgrounds on Friday 22 February, with the organisers handing over a cheque for £1,600 prior to Saturday’s Irish Cup tie with Portadown.

Bucket collections have continued to be well supported, with now over £4,000 raised in conjunction with the recent players’ donation.

Bannsiders’ General Manager Dessie Brown was keen to praise fans’ efforts towards the #CFCchallenge:

“Obviously, we’re very pleased to have reached the £15,000 mark for the #CFCchallenge fund...we are right on target at the moment. Fans are to be congratulated for their support in this venture and the Board as a whole welcome Coleraine fans’ efforts.

“Having said that, we’re not being naïve about the overall #CFCchallenge project. We recognise there is still a significant potential shortfall. We now need to kick on with #CFCchallenge efforts. We still have £20,000 to raise over the final two months of the season, which equates to £2,500 per week.

“To this end we would encourage support for upcoming events. Indeed, if any supporters have further fund-raising ideas to contribute they would be welcome to attend the next #CFCchallenge Committee Meeting.”

The next #CFCchallenge Committee meeting will be held in the CFC Social Club on Tuesday 5th March at 7.30pm.
