Champions destroy Brandywell men
Derry City suffered their heaviest defeat for a number of years as St Patrick’s Athletic secured an empathic 5-2 win at Richmond Park.
The champions stormed into a 3-0 lead inside the opening 23 minutes thanks to a brace from Christy Fagan and a close range header from Conan Byrne.
Liam Buckley’s side added a fourth on 48 minutes through Sean Hoare, before Michael Duffy pulled one back for the visitors, but a terrible goalkeeping error by Gerard Doherty resulted in Fagan completing his hat-trick on 72 minutes, then in the closing stages Rory Patterson netted his third goal in four matches
