CHAMPIONSHIP 1: Knockbreda 2 Ballyclare Comrades 2

Ballyclare Comrades had to settle for a point at 10-man Knockbreda after they threw away a two-goal lead.

All the goals arrived in the closing stages of the match and the Comrades will be kicking themselves for allowing the Belfast outfit to snatch a last-gasp leveller deep into time added on.

The home side had Kyle Owens dismissed with 20 minutes left and Ballyclare capitalised when Andrew Simpson vollyed home sub Chris Trussell’s cross.

Randal Reid, who came off the bench to replace Eddie Hill, doubled the Comrades’ advantage with a brilliant strike from the left side of the box.

Veteran striker Michael Halliday gave ‘Breda hope when he pulled a goal back on 89 minutes before Andrew Ferguson struck in the dying embers of Championship 1 clash.

Ballyclare Comrades: Nicholl - Doherty, Getty, McCart, Wharry - Brown, McIlveen, Dobbin (O’Hanlon 74), Simpson - Dempster (Trussell 61), E Hill (Reid 72). Subs not used: Duffin.

Meanwhile, Ballyclare have been handed a tough away game to Coleraine in round two of the JBE League Cup.
