CHAMPIONSHIP TWO: ‘We are lacking in confidence’ - Taylor

Despite the 2-1 scoreline, the Portstewart players put in a good shift.

PSNI took the lead 10 minutes before the break, the goal came from no where as the Portstewart defence seemed to switch off.

Portstewart had chances after that to equalise through Tannahill and Dunlop, but the half time score was 1-0

PSNI grabbed a second goal early in the second half, but Portstewart pulled a goal back. James Peden hit home from the spot.

Portstewart bombarded the PSNI goal for the last 20 minutes but despite their efforts, it was too little too late.

Portstewart boss Gary Taylor says his side are lacking in confidence.

“It’s a never ending circle, we need a win or two under our belts to get a little confidence back in the squad.

“We have been playing well, we just need to start scoring and the confidence will come.”

Taylor takes his men to Glebe Rangers this Saturday.

“It’ll be a tough test for us,” admitted Taylor.

“Peter [Cairns] has his boys playing well. They have picked up some good results so far this season, but it’s a derby game so anything can happen.

“We have a number of former Glebe players down with us now, so they’ll be looking to show their worth in front of their old team. It will be a good game.”
