The Brandywell men, who have now drawn their last four league games in a row, could and probably should have been well beaten inside the opening 20 minutes, goalkeeper Gerard Doherty virtually single handedly kept the Bohs efforts out.

Owen Heary’s side came out of the blocks fast and went in front in the third minute thanks to Jason Byrne’s close range strike, after the lively Karl Moore had created the opening.

Unfortunately the visitors were reduced to ten men when Rory Patterson was shown a straight red card by referee Anthony Buttimer for a challenge on Dave Mulcahy.

The Dubliners themselves had a man sent-off on 55 minutes as Dinny Corcoran, like Patterson, was shown a straight red card for kicking-out off the ball at City skipper Cliff Byrne.

After the game Sentinel Sport’s Editor Kevin McLaughlin talked to midfielder Jon Paul McGovern.
