City knocked out of EA Sports Cup

Derry City crashed out of the EA Sports Cup, after narrowly losing 2-1 to Dundalk, at the Brandywell.

Two errors from Raymond Foy and Danny Ventre resulted in Dundalk’s David McMillan and Curtis Byrne giving the visitors a two goal lead.

However the goal of the tie came on 86 minutes when Patrick McEleney’s 35 yard pile driver set up a nervy finish for the visitors.

In fact the Oriel Park men had goalkeeper Gabriel Sava to thank as he made a remarkable one handed save in stoppage time to keep out Josh Tracey’s close range effort.
