“We’ve set up a football association and a tournament for the Primary Schools in Derry to all get involved in. It’s great to see the young lads out enjoying their football, and you can see their delight at playing out on the pitch here at the Brandywell,” said Hutton.

“That’s what the Teenage Kickz programme is all about; getting kids and young people from all over the community together and enjoying themselves through football.”

Around 15 kids from each school took part in the tournament and contested four different cups, with the big winners of the day being St. Patrick’s Primary School, with runners up including Steelstown, Lisnagalvin and Holy Family PS.

Derry City players Shane McEleney and Patrick McEleney were on hand to present the medals and trophies to all the winning teams, and all participants were given match tickets to Derry City’s next home game against Drogheda United on Friday night.
