Derry City is among a host of clubs trying to sign Linfield’s out of contract midfielder Philip Lowry.

The former Institute man, who moved to Windsor Park from the Riverside Stadium in 2009, made his debut for the Blues in their 4-0 defeat away to Danish side Randers.

He is believed to have been offered a new deal with Linfield, while Coleraine and a number of other Irish League clubs along with the Candystripes are vying for his signature.

The 25-year-old, who during his time under David Jeffrey’s management has won three Irish League Premiership titles, three Irish Cup and a County Antrim Shield, played over 200 games for the Belfast men, scoring a bag full of goals.

In fact, he reached double figures every season apart from the 2012/13 campaign.

The Limavady man looks the type of player the Brandywell men have been crying out for a number of years since Ciaran Martyn’s departure in 2009.
