Coleman launches Celebrity Golf Day

WALES boss Chris Coleman was the guest of honour at the Celebrity Golf day launch, which was held at Da Vinci’s hotel last week.

Bournemouth midfielder Eunan O’Kane also attended the launch event. This is the eighth year of this successful event, which will takes place on Friday, at Foyle Golf Centre.

Coleman has been a great supporter of the event in previous years and he explained why he supports the prestigious event each year.

“The Celebrity Golf day has been great for the city over the past seven years and is an event I look forward to each year. More

importantly it’s a fundraising event for the Academy programme at Maiden City,” he said.

“To attract the calibre of celebrity and teams each year to return to this tournament to play is a great achievement for all the organisers.”

Former MCA graduate and current AFC Bournemouth player Eunan O’Kane, said: “I’m delighted to play in this years golf day and support the programme which supported me as a child, on and off the pitch. I have very happy memories of my playing time at the Academy.”

In attendance was the Mayor Kevin Campbell, who congratulated the work being achieved by Maiden City Soccer in the community.

Present for the main sponsor of this years event were Mr Jim Mellon and Mr Barry Mellon and Barry said: “We are delighted as a local employer to support this impressive event and the work being carried out by Maiden City Soccer. I’d personally like to thank Chris Coleman for taking the time to attend from his busy schedule and help launch the golf day.”
