The new deal ties the 25-year-old, who was at the Brandywell last weekend managing James McClean XI at Barry Molloy’s testimonial game, to Goodison Park until 2019.

“It was a very happy decision,” stated the ex-Sligo Rovers man. “I’ve been at Everton for five years and I love everything about the place.”

The deal ends speculation over the Killybegs man’s future, he had been linked with a move to Arsenal and Manchester United.

Coleman enjoyed a fine campaign for Roberto Martinez’s men last season, scoring seven goals and being named in the PFA Team of the Year.
