COLERAINE eased into the third round of the IRN-BRU League Cup last night.

Last year’s beaten finalists secured their place in tomorrow’s draw with a 4-1 win over neighbours Ballymoney United.

The hosts stubborn resistance was broken on 25 minutes as Darren Boyce showed some neat skill to beat his man beofre firing into the bottom corner.

The front man turned provider nine minutes later as he crossed for former Ballymoney man Mark Gillan to make 2-0.

Two became three four minutes later as Gillan was upended in the box and Curtis Allen fired home the resulting spot kick.

To their credit Ballymoney gave it a real go in the second half and they pulled a goal back just before the hour mark as Stephen Lyons finished from close range.

Coleraine upped the tempo again and restored their three goal advantage five minutes before the end as Ruairi Harkin curled in a delightful free kick.
