Coleraine Under-12s overcome the conditions to pick up win at St Mary’s

U10 NW&CYL action at Ballysally playing fields between Coleraine FC Academy and Carniny Amateurs.

The game started with St Mary’s having the first touch and pushed the ball forward assisted by the high winds.

The defence of Ben Doherty, Luke Rea and Stuart Wallace kept attackers at bay and confidently with a few tricks cleared the ball up the line away from danger.

Coleraine pushed forward against the wind with simple passes through Scott McDonald, Nathan Clarke and Scott Simpson working well up the field culminating with the 1st goal.

St Mary’s pushed forward again using the wings and crossing the ball in but it was easily cleared by our defenders.

On the break again Coleraine pushed forward keeping the ball on the ground and some very nice football from Ben Moore, Jude Twigg, James Symington finding the net again to make it 2-0.

With the high winds in favour of St Mary’s they had a long shot which carried in the air and all Jack Rodden could do was get the finger tips to it but it wasnt enough.

After another goal making it 3-1 the whistle went for halftime.

Coleraine started the second half playing with the wind and rain behind them.

Moving fast and taking the advantage of the wind Academy crossed the ball in making it 4-1.

St Mary’s battled hard but could not stop Coleraine who in quick succession added another two goals.

An excellent team performance in difficult weather conditions.

Man of the Match: Nathan Clarke

Coleraine Olympic Under-10s resumed their league campaign after the winter break on Saturday morning.

The young Bannsiders were up against a spirited Portrush side and despite some rustiness opened the scoring with a terrific team goal culminating with a fine finish from Ross Irwin.

Portrush equalised when Pierce Stirling was unlucky not to keep out a point blank effort.

However Coleraine were back in front before half time when Daniel Moffat scored.

Coleraine dominated the second half and added a third through a close range finish from Ryan Donnel.

Jack Collins added a fourth with an Ivanonovic like strike. A good performance from the whole team.
