The Dubliner who took over from Declan Devine has won three games from his opening 13 matches in charge.

City’s 1-0 home defeat to Shamrock Rovers on Friday night, which was greeted with boos and jeers at the final whistle, was Collins’ final match in charge.

Club chairman Philip O’Doherty confirmed that Peter Hutton will take first team training in the morning and that he and his fellow board members will meet on Tuesday night, where a search for Collins’ replacement will begin.

The likes of former assistant manager Paul Hegarty, ex-Sligo Rovers gaffer Sean Connor and one time Kilmarnock boss Kenny Shiels, may come into the reckoning.
