Collins looking at new striker

Nigerian striker Akinni Sunday could be on his way to the Brandywell.

The 29-year-old, who worked with Roddy Collins at Maltese side, Floriana, has been training with the Candystripes this week.

Sunday, who also played with St Alban’s City, Colchester United and Luton Town before linking up with Collins in Malta is currently with Floriana.

“Sunday is away back, but like a few others players I’m hoping to finalise deals with him, sooner rather than later,” stated Collins.

“I’m sitting down with Sean Barrett over the next two days to finalise deals and hopefully the players will sign.

“By Monday week I’m hoping that I have my squad in place to take us to what we want to achieve. “I’m delighted with all the players who have come in as their attitude has been first class,” he added.
