In a season of frustration, Laurelvale enjoyed the benefits of two key moments of good fortune on Saturday.

The Villagers recorded a second successive victory by beating Dungannon Rovers thanks to a Brendan Connolly hat-trick, Adam Pearson effort and David Sinton double.

However, a penalty kick that bounced off the crossbar inside the opening minute handed Laurelvale an early lift before Rovers’ red card in the second half.

“Sometimes you need that touch of luck to get something from any performance,” said Laurelvale manager Mark Robinson. “Stuart McClelland, Jack McClelland and Colin Armstrong played big roles in our goals but it was about a team display.”

RICHHILL

Andrew Allen left Richhill on level terms against Lurgan Town thanks to a measured lob in Saturday’s 2-2 draw.

Ally Dodds opened the scoring off Richard Morrison’s pass before the visitors turned the tables.

Richhill officials would like to thank Colin Wilson Painting and Decorating for match sponsorship.

Richhill Swifts finished down by 4-3 to Keady Celtic reserves across the Lonsdale League Cup.

Sam Keys, Craig Smith and Matthew Finlay each found the net for the young villagers.

BBOB

Andrew McCandless’ goal offered little consolation for Portadown BBOB in a 3-1 defeat by Donaghmore across Mid-Ulster League Division Town.

Adam Hobson, Matthew Donaldson, Alan Ritchie and William Donaldson proved sharp during attempts by the Old Boys to turn the match.

SCARVA

Scarva Rangers entered half-time down by a single goal against Glenavy but suffered a 4-0 deficit at the final whistle. Kyle Foster came close on an afternoon to forget.
