Cookstown well represented at Milk Cup

COOKSTOWN Youth are well represented at this years Northern Ireland Milk Cup when three of their players will line out for County Tyrone.

Mark Megarry, William Donaghy and Joshua Graham are all part of the Tyrone panel and the Mid-Ulster Mail spoke to Mark and William earlier on in the week for their thoughts ahead of the tournament.

Megarry spoke of his pride at being selected for his county and admitted that playing in the Milk Cup is something he has dreamt about since he was a child.

“I feel very proud and privileged to be selected as one of the 18 players chosen to represent Tyrone. Playing in the Milk Cup has been something that I have aspired to over the last few years and I am delighted that I have been given the chance to fulfil my dreams.”

Donaghy stated that preparations have been going well and he is looking forward to every single one of the testing fixtures that lie ahead.

“I am very proud to be part of the panel and I am even more delighted that we have the chance to play in front of our home crowd at Mountjoy on Saturday and hopefully that will give us the inspiration to go and achieve at the tournament.”

Both of the boys are looking forward to testing their talents against Ipswich Town. Megarry was full of praise for his coaches and spoke of how well training has been going.

“Preparations have been superb. At the start I lacked confidence in my ability but I have overcame that and I am really looking forward to the tournament and in particular our game against Ipswich.”

Over the last few years, Paul Kee has received much praise for the attractive style of football that Tyrone play and both boys admitted that playing good football was of the utmost of importance at the tournament.

Both William and Mark have both been regulars at Cookstown Youth for the last number of years and they were extremely complimentary of the footballing education they received at the club.

Mark was full of praise for his local club and spoke of great pride about his home team.

“Cookstown have taken me through the ranks from Under 5 right through to Under 15. The manager have give me great encourgaments and supported me throughout. It is a great club for any young player to go to and learn the skills of football.”
