Correy targets return

After a frustrating start to the season, Carrick’s flying winger, Correy Davidson, is hoping to be back in action this weekend.

And, if selected, 20-year-old is determined to bounce back better than ever after his recent injury problems as Rangers travel to Belfast to take on the Welders.

“Every player loves game time and, unfortunately, this season I’ve picked up one or two knocks with a dead leg and a twisted knee,” he said.

“I won’t be too cautious, though, I know what I’m capable of and I know ill bounce back even better.

“I honestly thought I’d be back up and running before now but there was just a slight niggle in the knee. This injury has been a tricky one but we’re not taking any risks and I should be back in a Carrick shirt soon.”

And the pacy Dubliner, much admired among the Amber Army faithful, is looking forward to working under new boss, Gary Haveron.

“To be honest, when Gary was captain last year there was plenty of times when I would stop him and ask for advice and he was more than happy to give me some help. I know as manager this hasn’t changed,” said Davidson. “He was a player a few weeks ago, so we know how badly he wants promotion; just as much, if not more than the team.

“Gary is passionate about Carrick which you can tell by the effort he’s already put in. I’ve talked to him and he’s made me feel an important player in his plans so he has given me confidence in myself once again.”

He added: “With the experience and knowledge, plus talent of the players we have, I know come the end of this season we’ll be there challenging to get promotion.”
