County Down Milk Cup squads’ preparations get underway

This year’s County Down Milk Cup preparations are well under way with both the junior and premier squads down to the last 18.

Recently both squads achieved success when the junior squad won the inaugural Nevin Spence Memorial trophy.

On the day teams from Armagh, Dundalk and Ards Rangers competed for the trophy but County Down ran out comfortable winners.

In this year’s opening fixtures the junior squad find themselves up against Watford on Monday July 29 with a 12pm kick-off at Broughshane; Tuesday July 30, 1.30pm at Castlerock against San Luis de Colina while on Wednesday July 31 at 12pm they play North Dublin Schoolboys League at Anderson Park, Coleraine.

The Premier Squad won the Mourne Cup ,achieving success against Londonderry, Armagh and Bohemians.

The Premier teams start on Monday July 29 (5pm) at Portrush against Vendee; Tuesday July 30 (5pm) against Cherry Orchard at Riada Stadium (2) Ballymoney and finishing off on Wednesday July 31 with a 3.30pm ko. against Cruz Azul from Mexico at Scroggy Road Limavady.

Depending on results both squads will either progress into the quarter finals of the Milk Cup or one of the other trophies to be played for.
