Courts back to winning ways

Lincoln Courts...3Douglas Bridge...0

LINCOLN Courts bounced back from their Coca/Cola Irish Junior Cup heartache, with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Douglas Bridge, on Saturday.

The Waterside men dominated the match from start to finish and probably should have won by a bigger margin.

The first goal came when right back Scott Thomas' cross was won in the box by Kolyn Patterson who found striker Jason Hay unmarked on the penalty spot and his low shot easily beating the keeper into the bottom corner.

Hay had a chance double the score shortly after when winger Stephen Mooney picked up the ball on the wing going past the left back and from his center the striker's first time shot sailed over the crossbar.

Douglas Bridge were limited to very little in the first half with Lincoln Courts' defence dealing with the odd counter attack, their best chance saw Lincoln Courts keeper Ian Killen make an outstanding save from the Douglas Bridge striker diving and tipping the shot over the bar.

Towards the end of the first half the home side could have added a second, Mooney's effort sailing over from 15 yards out and Patterson saw his effort saved by the keeper.

The second half started brightly for Courts and the early pressure led to their second goal.

Left back Dean Cooke curled a free kick into the area were Patterson's effort was blocked only to rebound to the feet of Gordon Murray who tapped in to double the lead.

Lincoln were then reduced to 10 men after Trevor McDermott was sent off for a second yellow, but the ten men went on to score the third and final goal.

Mooney took a shot that again the visitors keeper could not hold onto and the alert Mark Hamilton fired home the rebound.
