Craig passes the baton at Kilroot after two seasons

Kilroot remember had gone through the entire 2012/13 season without winning a match. The ‘new’ management team of Trevor Gault and Stephen McAteer came and quickly went during the summer, so Rec turned to their one time second team manager Alan Craig, who had spent five seasons coaching at Lisburn Distillery.

However, one year without a win soon became two, and the statistics for last season don’t make happy reading - Played 33, Drew 1; Lost 32.

There wasn’t the expected influx of new blood in either during the summer, yet Kilroot got the current campaign off to a high, with that elusive first win, a 1-0 victory over Dromore Amateurs at Castleview Park.

As Alan Craig told the Times:“I had considered going at the end of last season, but I thought on it as unfinished business. I couldn’t go without winning a match.

“I’d like to thank all the players and committee who have supported me during my time there. Good luck to all at the club for the future.”

On Saturday, Kilroot crashed to a 5-0 defeat by Holywood FC.
