Danny Ventre signs for Derry City

Former Sligo Rovers captain, Danny Ventre has signed a one-year deal with Derry City.

The Candy Stripes confirmed the signing of the Liverpudlian midfielder for the 2014 season on a social network site.

Ventre, who was captain of Sligo Rovers, moves to the Brandywell after being released by the Bit o’ Red.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a very successful spell at The Showgrounds, winning the FAI Cup on three occasions as well as the Airtricity League title in 2012.

Derry confirmed the signing on their Twitter account saying “Derry City are delighted to announce the signing of Danny Ventre.”

The midfielder tweeted: “Delighted to have signed for Derry City for 2014. Can’t wait to get going and working with Roddy, Peter and new team-mates.”
