Defeat for Larne at Institute

Larne are still without a win in this season's Belfast Telegraph Championship following their 2-0 defeat against Institute at Drumahoe on Friday.

Despite playing the final 25 minutes against 10 men, the Reds never looked likely to salvage even a point.

The home side took the lead on 23 minutes when McCrudden’s cross into the box was met by Sean Roddy. His shot was heading wide until a deflection of Andy Simms diverted it inside Chris Keenan’s left-hand post.

The lead was doubled on 53 minutes. A free-kick on the left found McCrudden whose shot was blocked by Scott Todd, but, despite the presence of three defenders, Ricky-Lee Dougherty fired a low shot inside the post.

Institute were reduced to 10 men following a straight red for Jarvis.

Larne sent on Carland, McClean and McAllister but most of the action centred on the Larne goal. Keenan kept the scoreline respectable with two outstanding saves to deny Parkinson and Roddy.

Larne: Keenan, S. Todd, Lemon, C. Todd, Wharry, Workman, Irvine, Devine, Maguire, Berry, Simms, Subs: Carland (Lemon), McClean (Berry), McAllister (Irvine), Hanna.
