Carniny Amateurs 2, Dungiven Celtic 4: From a Dungiven corner, keeper McKee punched the ball away to Magee and his early pass found Greer who finished first time with his left into the corner.

Good driving from midfield saw Magee’s cross cleared for desperate defending by Dungiven as Carniny hit the post twice!

Magee then passed to McMullan who cut back and crossed for Francey’s shot to be blocked but Greer following up fired home for 2-0.

It was all Carniny and a Francey free kick was headed on to the bar by Greer and the Dungiven clearance saw their striker 1-on-1 and despite being forced wide fired a strong shot past the helpless McKee as the half ended 2-1.

Magee came off injured allowing run outs for Ben Adams and Adam Douglas and during this reorganisation Dungiven equalised from a quickly-taken free kick.

This shocked Carniny and a mix up in defence allowed them to get in front. Straight after, Dungiven put a long ball into the box and a Carniny leg stuck out to divert it into their own net.

A few chances came and went until Ryan McGrath’s clearance from his own box travelled into the Newhill box and a defender put into his own net.

Harry Foster made it 3-0 soon after before Newhillill scored to make it 3-1. Carniny were wasteful in the chances and Newhill took advantage to grab two quick goals to make it 3-3 at half time.

The second half started as the first ended with Newhill on top and five minutes into the second half they scored a fourth a few chances came and went for Harry Foster before Newhill scored again to go up 5-3 Harry Foster completed his hat-trick to make it 5-4 with 3 minutes remaining.

Carniny showed the Irish league outfit too much respect early on and the Glens deservedly took the lead in the 5th minute.

Carniny came out for the second half with more purpose, worked harder, and pressured the Glens into mistakes but ‎despite their best efforts they just couldn’t find the net. Glentoran scored again in stoppage time with a towering header to secure a deserved win.

UNDER-14

Carniny Youth 3, Bertie Peacock 3: Berties took the lead against the run of play but Carniny refused to lay down and equalised after good pressure Rhys Hemphill received the ball and turned to hit a fine strike that gave the keeper no chance.

Berties took the lead again from a corner kick which Carniny failed to deal with and the Ballymena side had to work hard before the equaliser came with a nice move between Hemphill and Courtney who found Cameron Moag unmarked who then fired a left foot strike from the edge of the box past the keeper.

Carniny took the lead just on the stroke of half time when Berties failed to clear a corner and the ball fell to Moag who calmly tucked it away.

Mid way through the second half Carniny conceded a penalty. The striker stepped up and hit a hard low shot which Jake Parker brilliantly saved and pushed the ball to safety.

Linfield took the lead 20 mins into the second half when the ball fell kindly in the six yard box after rebounding off a Carniny player.

Carniny were still very much in the game and got their reward when man of the match Eoghan Daly finally got the ball in the net after several blocked shots.

Carniny continued to press looking for the winner but they were dealt a raw blow when Shea O’Brien in goals appeared to be fouled in the air as Linfield grabbed their second and what proved to be winner.
