Derby success for United U-13s as they hit neighbours for six

Ballymena United under 13s scored half a dozen in an impressive victory over derby rivals Carniny at the weekend.

The under 14s lost out to the reds in a close encounter in their own derby while the 12s suffered defeat to old foes Lisburn Youth in Lisburn.

The 11s were impressive in defeat against an older Coleraine side while the 15s continued their own impressive form scoring six in a thrilling win over Warrenpoint.

UNDER-11

Coleraine Olympic U-12 5, BUYA 3: Coleraine scored a brilliant long range effort before adding a second.

Robbie Gilchrist helped to create Rainey’s opener. Coleraine went two clear again but Rainey grabbed a second.

The Bannsiders rifled in a good fourth goal before Matthew Byrne scored the goal of the game,driving forward before blasting in a superb effort from 20 yards.

Rainey crashed one off the bar before Coleraine added a late fifth.

UNDER-12

LIsburn Youth 5, BUYA 0: After some early Ballymena pressure, Lisburn took the lead in the seventh minute and were four goals up by the interval before adding a fifth early in the second half.

UNDER-13

BUYA 6, Carniny Youth 0: Robbie McGaughey opened the scoring a good delivery from Sean McKay saw McGaughey stub the ball, the ball over the keeper into the net.

Ballymena scored a second just before the break Carniny failed to clear a corner and Sean McKay pounced on the loose ball firing home.

The third arrived 13 minutes after the re-start as Cameron Moag collected the ball and from a full 25 yards let fly with a strike that hit the back of the net.

One minute later the sky blues hit again, when Scott Marcus struck a sweet shot only to the ball cannon off the post hit the keeper but Aiden Gillen was quickest to react and tucked the ball away

Ballymena scored again when Marcus played a neat ball to Rhys Hemphill who collected, turned and from 25 yards hit a screamer into the top corner.

The final goal came when another Marcus shot bounced off the post but Rhys Hemphill was there to poke home his second.

BUYA 1, Carniny 3: Not such good news for the under-14s who, having fallen behind, equalised when good pressure from McMurray led to an own goal but Carniny added a further two second half goals.

UNDER-15

BUYA 6, Warrenpoint 4: In a high-scoring encounter, United’s goals came from Stockman (2), Dunn, McCabe (2) and McClelland.

COLLECTION THANKS

United Youth academy will like to thank all those who contributed to their collection at the senior derby in Saturday.

A total of £356.24 was raised on the day. The club has also thanked Ballymoney who played in a half-time exhibition against BUYA sides.
