Derriaghy, under new manager John Rosbotham and with several new signings, made a good start and looked dangerous early on.

It was the home team however who took the lead midway through the first half.

With 5 minutes left in the half Derriaghy had a great chance to equalise from the penalty spot but Neil Graham saw his shot well saved by the Crumlin Star keeper before he blasted the rebound over the bar.

The game continued to ebb and flow from end to end in the second half with both teams having chances, but finally it was Derriaghy who got a deserved equaliser from William Elliot.

Elliot, whose pace had troubled the Crumlin defence all day, cut in from the right wing and fired in an unstoppable shot from 20 yards.

Both teams then pressed for the winner, with Andy Wallace pulling off a brilliant point blank save for Derriaghy with just a few minutes left to keep the score at 1-1.

Derriaghy left the pitch a little disappointed not to have taken all three points but a good away point to take back to Seycon Park.

Derriaghy were missing a couple of key players in the midfield and the changes showed early on as the players tried to find their feet on the large Crumlin pitch.

The home side had the best of the early play without really troubling the Derriaghy keeper.

The first half was a scrappy affair with neither side really taking control and good chances being of a premium.

The second half continued much the same as the first but it was Derriaghy who scored the opener when Neil Graham danced his way into a position to get a shot away which left the Crumlin keeper wrong footed.
