The 20-year-old trained with his new team-mates this morning and is expected to go straight into City’s squad for Friday night’s massive league clash against Limerick.

“I went to Pat Fenlon and asked for a loan move and he told me that a few clubs were interested and Derry City was the biggest club,” stated Cornwall.

“I was buzzing when I got the call from Peter (Hutton) and it was an easy move for me.”

Peter Hutton also spoke about his new addition. “Rob comes with a great versatility, as he can play in a number of positions; anywhere across the back four and also in midfield, so he gives us a lot of options.

“He is predominantly a right-back, but as I said he can play in a number of positions and we are delighted to get him on board.”

Cornwall played against the Candystripes already this season as he helped Rovers secure a 1-0 win, in the EA Sports Cup tie at the Brandywell, in May.
