Derry City: Hutton fuming at Lowry’s suspension

Derry City manager Peter Hutton has stated that the FAI Disciplinary Committee’s decision to give Philip Lowry an additional two game ban as a ‘shocking decision’.

The midfielder was sent-off at Sligo Rovers in City’s last league outing after stumbling over Raffaele Cretaro and that incident has led to him getting a further suspension, much to Hutton’s frustration.

“We were made aware today (Thursday) that Philip Lowry misses three games, it is a shocking decision,” he insisted.

“It’s a devasting blow to us considering Richie Towell doesn’t miss a game for his incident and Philip receives a three game ban for an incident where a young in-experienced fourth official decided to give a red card after being intimidated by the Sligo bench; I think it’s absolutely crazy.

“I feel the whole disciplinary process needs to be looked at given the fact that even the video evidence didn’t seem to sway it in any way at all, it’s just ludicrous.”
