The club has issued an appeal to all supporters of the Candystripes to try to pick up an extra gift when shopping for their loved ones and family during the Festive season.

“We are asking our supporters to purchase an affordable additional gift which may benefit young people less fortunate them themselves,” stated boss, Peter Hutton.

“While many of us will look forward to celebrating Christmas with our families, others will not be so fortunate.

“So many young children will not be with their families due to a litany of issues, some in hospital while others remain in care etc.

“So for anyone willing to participate, we would ask them to purchases an extra gift and kindly mark on their parcel the age and sex for whom the gift is intended.

“Gifts can then be left in the club’s office in Brandywell Stadium and those gifts will then be distributed by members of our playing staff prior to Christmas,” continued the Derry manager.

“We are also attempting to form a relationship with ‘Toys R Us’ and use that organisation’s premises as a drop off point. However, that has yet to be confirmed,” added Hutton.

“Our players and managerial team will then accompany Santa and deliver the gifts to those chilidren for whom this appeal is intended.”
