John Quigg’s table toppers face second placed St Patrick’s Athletic at Pearse Park, Dublin, (KO 5pm) knowing a victory would put them six points clear of the Dubliners, with a half a dozen games remaining.

In recent weeks the likes Ronan Curtis, Georgie Kelly, Paddy Flanaghan and Patrick McClean have forced their way into Peter Hutton’s first team plans during pre-season and Quigg is happy that they will be involved in another big match.

“It’s a big game for the boys, as St Pat’s are decent, in fact I feel they are the best side we have played this season,” stated Quigg.

“Because of that I think the game is going to be lively but these are the games we want the young boys to be involved in.

“At the end of the day if you want to be the best, you have to play the best, it’s as simple as that.”

Meanwhile former City striker Rory Patterson has signed for Australian side Cockburn City.

Cockburn play in the Western Australia Premier League.

Patterson was a free agent after agreeing to terminate his contract at the Brandywell in January.

The former Northern Ireland international netted 61 goals in 92 appearances for the Candystripes, before being transfer-listed by the club with a view to reducing their wage bill, the contract termination was agreed shortly afterwards.
