Derry fight back to earn replay

Pat Fenlon’s men, who had goalkeeper Barry Murphy to thank as he denied Michael Duffy twice in the first half, broke the deadlock on 78 minutes when substitute Dean Kelly fired home from close range.

Credit to City they never let their heads drop as they levelled things four minutes from time when Mark Timlin’s right wing corner found Patterson, who got half a yard from Conor Kenna to head the ball home from close range.

Right at the death Duffy had another glorious chance to win it for the visitors but once again Murphy made a tremendous save to keep out his close range strike, after Patterson showed great strength and composure to set-up the opportunity.
