Deserved win for Lower Maze in Steel & Sons

After the disappointing midweek derby defeat away to Lower Maze, where they lost 3-1, Ballymacash Rangers secured their name in the second round draw of the Steel and Sons Cup with a hard fought 2-1 win at home to Amateur league side Iveagh United.

Goals from Jonny Hanna and Stephen Shanks either side of an away team goal, ensured a mouthwatering tie against Championship side Newington to be played at Rushmore Park on Saturday August 31, where the locals know they will need to raise their game.

A goal from Kenny Campbell gave Ballymacash their second league win last Tuesday night, when the locals travelled to play AFC Craigavon.

In a game where Ballymacash dominated they just lacked that finishing touch in the last third until Campbell stepped up to head the locals in front after fine wing play from Nathan Friars.

Ballymacash entertain League Champions and current league leaders Dollingstown at home this Saturday 2.15 ko at Rushmore Park.
