Devine’s future in doubt despite big win

DERRY City manager Declan Devine conceded that he expects to hold talks with chairman Philip O’Doherty about his future.

Speculation has been mounting in recent weeks that his position as boss is under threat, this comes after finishing the season in fourth spot.

The Brandywell men ended their league campaign with an empathic 6-0 win over a disappointing Limerick side.

Goals from Michael Rafter, Dean Jarvis, Simon Madden and a hat-trick from Davy McDaid ensured the Candystripes cruised to victory.

The result means Derry finished ahead of Shamrock Rovers to secure that all important fourth spot and if Sligo Rovers win next month’s FAI Cup Final then Europa League football will take place at the Brandywell again next season.
