The first phase of the project consisted of ten coaching sessions with the groups within the sports clubs and aimed to introduce the group to the sport.

Alongside this each group completed a course on the consequences of prejudice and also completed a course on identity, self-esteem and goal setting which were carried at each areas respective club.

As they enter the second phase of the programme, they now introduce cross community/good relations aspect of the programme which will see each group travel to each sports club to experience what each sport has to offer, for many it will be first time experiencing these sports.

Alongside this, two from each group (eight in total) will complete a sports leadership level 1 award and the remaining eight from each group (32 in total) will complete a bronze achievement award.

Finally each group will host a fun day aimed at bringing together the different generations from each area to take part in the sport together and to also show case the skills the participants have learned whilst playing each sport.

As they near the end of the first year of the programme they will now be recruiting new sports clubs and community groups for the second year, if interested please contact Christopher Curran on (028) 71343080 or email: [email protected].
