Disappointing result for Senior Park

BALLYMENA Senior Park faced another tough game in the NIPGL Senior Division 2 last Saturday when they travelled to Cavehill and this proved to be the case when they could only claim 2 of the points on offer, losing 84-70.

On rink 1 Keith Burnett, Jordan Millar, Neal Garrett and John Elliott continued their good run of form against B White on rink 1.

The Ballymena men lead from the start but the home rink was never more than a couple of shots behind and after 10 ends the visitors lead by 8 shots to 6. The second half of the game was a different story as the Braid rink won 9 of the remaining ends to record a fine 25-11 victory.

Andy Hill, Gary Shaw, Tommy Hill and John Millar found the going tough on rink 2 against P Thompson and found themselves 11 shots in arrears after 11 ends.

The next 8 ends were closer and with 2 ends remaining the Braid men trailed by 19 shots to 11, however the Cavehill rink scored 7 shots on the last 2 ends to give the home rink victory by 26 shots to 11.

On rink 3 Robert Mark, Roy Hutchinson, George Beattie and Alex Wilson found themselves 2 shots in arrears against G Martin after 7 ends but the Ballymena men then won the next 9 ends to take control of the game and lead by 10 shots.

The visitors won the majority of the remaining ends but it was not enough to deny the Ballymena men victory by 19 shots to 17.

Davy Cupples, Derek Greer, John Murdock and Arnold Kenny had a horrendous start against A Ross on rink 4 when they conceded a maximum count of 8 shots on the third end to trail by 11 shots to 1.

Worse was still to come as the home rink continued to score heavily and after 14 ends their lead was up to 22 shots. The Braid rink steadied themselves over the remaining ends but in the end they had to concede defeat by 30 shots to 15.

This week Ballymena Senior Park entertain Saintfield.
