Lisburn Distillery have the daunting task of a double-header against current Championship One leaders Bangor over the Easter week.

First, they host the title-chasers at New Grosvenor on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) and then travel to Clandeboye Park on Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm) hoping to throw a spanner in the works of the in-form Seasiders.

Bangor have won five league games on the trot, netting 21 goals in the process but Distillery have won three of their last four outings. Whilst their boss Tommy Kincaid says Bangor’s squad is strong, he wasn’t in the mood to be fazed by the leaders.

“They have quality players and I understand why they are up there are up at the top of the table,” he said. “Of course, they have Darren’s brother Colin in defence and Stephen O’Neill, who I had tried to sign when he went to them, is scoring goals. Andy Morrow is always a threat at this level as well.

“I’m not particularly interested in the title race though. I’m just trying to get as many points on the board for Lisburn Distillery as possible and get us as high up the table as we can.

“It’s important for us to finish the season strongly but it’s not really vital.”

However, Kincaid warned that playing two games against the same opposition in such quick succession can have negative impacts

“Nobody really likes playing back to back games but that’s the way it’s turned out,” he told the ‘STAR.’

“If there are any wee niggles or anything from the first game, they can carry over into the second. If there are any arguments, it doesn’t give any time for anything settle down.”

The former Glenavon boss was hopefuly of having a fully fit squad for the Easter holiday double-header.

“We’ll assess everyone in training this week but hopefully we’ll have no injuries and we’ll be ok to go,” he said.

After their two games against Bangor, Distillery will only have one game left this season, a home game against Knockbreda the following Saturday (26 April).

Distillery are currently ninth in the table but could go up as high as seventh if results go their way this week.
