Distillery take the fizz out of flat Coagh side

Lisburn Distillery manager Tim McCann’s antidote to his side being cut adrift at the bottom of the league was to take his players out on the town.

And the bonding session appears to have worked as the Whites played their hearts out last night, with Gary Liggett bagging a brace in each half in a 9-0 win.

‘Start as you mean to go on’ was Distillery’s motto for the IRN BRU League Cup tie with Coagh Utd as they opened each half with a goal.

Twenty-two seconds in Jordan Hughes made it 1-0 and 17 seconds into the second half Liggett completed his hat trick to make it 7-0.

Sub Owain Beggs swivelled to smash home Aaron Smyth’s cross on 71 minutes for 8-0 before Liggett notched his fourth.

Earlier Michael Halliday had bagged a brace as did Liggett with Scott Davidson driving in another to leave it 6-0 at the break.
