Dollingstown are blown away by Bangor

It only took Bangor ten minutes to open the scoring when the left winger fired home from a corner kick that hadn’t been properly closed down and with a strong wind behind them they almost doubled this lead on 25 minutes when the left back let fire from 25 yards out and his effort beat the keeper but rebounded from the bar to safety.

Dollingstown were well in the game playing into a strong wind and were happy to have restricted Bangor to only one goal at half time.

However on 49 minutes Andy Morrow showed a true centre forward instinct by shoving Neil King off the ball and as captain Aaron Moffett dropped off him rather than closing the space he calmly fired home.

Manager Gary Duke then replaced King and McConnell with Denver and Redpath on 57 minutes but despite these changes Dollingstown remained lethargic although they did have the ball in the net on 65 minutes through Richard Thompson but the referee had blown up early for a free kick rather than allowing advantage.

To make matters worse the outside right scored direct from a corner kick which epitomised the overall poor performance all afternoon.

Then to complete the scoring the Bangor substitute scored number four from distance before Donaghy replaced Rodgers.

The only consolation for Dollingstown was that this wasn’t a league game and they can only hope that manager Duke can attract three or four quality players in the January window to spruce things up and make the squad more competitive than what it is at the minute.
