They are at home to Armagh City in the Bob Radcliffe Cup in a repeat of last season’s final which Armagh won on penalties.

Following two wins in a row in Championship 2, Dollingstown have found themselves without a match for a fortnight. They were due to play Chimney Corner, but as they are no longer in the league they had a free Saturday.

In order to keep things ticking over in the match fitness department Dollingstown played a friendly against Dungannon Rovers which they won 3-1.

Having fallen behind, the Planters Park side came back in the second half with goals from Ashley Gregg, Adam Montgomery and Richard Thompson.

It was Gregg’s first goal since his comeback, a year and half after breaking his ankle.

Hubert Watson commented: “I think that’s the first time in two years that we’ve had Ashley, Adam and Richie on the pitch together.

“That was our strikeforce for all those years and it was nice to have them playing together and all getting on the scoresheet.

The friendly match gave manager Gary Duke a chance to field his entire squad though he wasn’t happy with what he saw.

He said: “The players turned up thinking it would be a walk in the park. It was as bad as we’ve been in years. We improved slightly in the second half, but it wasn’t good enough. Ashley’s goal was the one positive.

“Our start to the league has been good. The friendly game was a lesson that you need to have the right mentality in every game at this level.”

Dollingstown Reserves are also in cup action on Saturdaywhen they travel to Omagh to play Strathroy Harps, who are top of their league and have hit 19 goals in three games.
