The local lad certainly hit the ground running against Ards on Saturday as he fired in the all-important opening goal in the Bannsiders crucial 2-0 win.

It was a special moment for Dooley who last pulled a Coleraine shirt on some three-and-a-half years ago before heading off to America to study.

“I’m not here for long, only two games, but I just wanted to help the club out in any way I could,” he told Times Sport.

“As a local lad who has come up through the ranks I’m delighted to be able to do that. It was a great feeling to be able to walk out on to the Showgrounds pitch again. It brought back a lot of good memories for me.

“My last goal for Coleraine actually came in a friendly win over Ards in 2010.

“They were in the Championship then and I scored in a 5-0 win I think. I played against Glenavon the following week before heading off to America.

“Today’s goal probably won’t go down as a spectacular effort, I didn’t hit it particularly well, but that didn’t really matter. As long as it went in that is all that really matters.

“I’m really enjoying it over in America. It’s my last five months there, I’ll decide what I want to do after that. If I do decide to move back home again then Coleraine will be first in my thoughts.”

Meanehile the winning numbers in the Coleraine FC Lotto are 8, 15, 23 and 25. There was no winner. Sharon Law won the £50 draw, Philip Mailey won the £25 draw. The jackpot is now £2,700.
