Draw made for Steel and Sons Cup first round

The draw for the opening round of this year’s Steel and Sons Cup has thrown up some interesting ties for East Antrim teams.

Garry Campbell’s 18th Newtownabbey have been handed a trip to Ballymacash Rangers. Phil McMahon’s Kilbride Swifts take on Grove United.

Mossley are at home to Ardglass while Ballynure Old Boys, managed by Gary Burns, are away to Raceview. Rathfern Rangers travel to Shorts and Jim Pherson’s Barn United host Ballywalter Rec.

Davy Rollo’s Newington Rangers welcome Bangor Amateurs and Nortel have been drawn away to Donard Hospital.

Kilroot Rec, now managed by Trevor Gault, face a tricky away game against Crusaders Reserves.

Round two of the competition has also been drawn with Larne at home to Abbey Villa and Carrick Rangers away to UUJ.

Wellington Rec have been paired with Iveagh United and Larne Tech are at home to FC Ballynure.

Islandmagee will take on the winners of Newington Rangers v Bangor Amateurs and Ballyclare Comrades will play either Raceview or Ballynure Old Boys.
