MCA Under 10’s opened their league campaign on Saturday in Ballysally against Coleraine Academy in an exciting game.

The visitors took the lead when a neat pass to Liam Mullan on the right wing invited him to strike on goal, and his powerful shot was enough to beat the Coleraine Academy goalkeeper.

MCA doubled their lead through Jack Kyle who reacted quickest to turn home the loose after the Coleraine keeper did well to keep out the initial shot.

The home side pulled one back just before the break when from a corner their striker made no mistake from close range.

The first chance of the game came through some neat play in midfield found Christopher Clifford at left back who moved the ball early to Cormac Norris in front of him, he lifted his head and picked out Jordan O’Doherty who placed his header just over the bar.

City did deservedly take the lead late on in the first half when Luke Toland found the run of Matthew McGarrigle who travelled into the Sion penalty area and tucked the ball low into the right corner.

The second half continued with the same pattern as the first and it didn’t take too long for the lead to double, Cathel O’Kane put the finishing touches to a sweeping city move with a neat finish.

The third goal came when Tom McLaughlin skilfully brought the ball out from the back before passing to Jamie Robinson who found Cathel O’Kane on the half way line, his sweeping first time pass into the space set Cahir McMonagle on his way and he went round the keeper and kept his composure to roll into the empty net.
