Effort was heartening

Despite this it was Glenavon who took an early lead when Kevin Short fired home from close range.

The second period saw Coleraine take the upper hand and they equalised 10 minutes in. The visitors went ahead midway through the half with an excellent individual strike.

An equaliser came when Jamie Diamond fired home through a crowded penalty area.

The joy was shortlived for Glenavon when in the final minute Coleraine scored controversially.

In the end it was gut wrenching to lose out in those circumstances however the effort and determination of the young Glenavon side was heartening.
